Country Garden Seeks Settlements as Litigation, Debt Pressures Mount

Country Garden (HKG:2007) engaged in negotiations with relevant organizations to seek settlements after reporting a net increase of about 1.9 billion yuan in defaulted debt within its consolidated group as of April 30, according to a Friday Hong Kong bourse filing.

The increase included defaults arising from overdue principal or interest payments, litigation, non-performance, and cross-default triggers, the company said.

Country Garden was newly involved in 11 litigation and arbitration cases with disputed amounts exceeding 50 million yuan each, totaling about 1.5 billion yuan, as of April 30.

The developer also recorded three new enforcement actions totaling 1 million yuan during the period.
