COSCO Shipping Unit to Lease Two Gas Carriers

COSCO Shipping Energy Transportation (HKG:1138, SHA:600026) said its Future Ocean unit agreed to lease two gas carriers from Singapore's Seaspan Corp. for a period of 20 years, according to a Tuesday filing with the Hong Kong bourse.

The Chinese shipping company's Hong Kong-listed shares fell over 4% in late morning trade Wednesday.

The firm will pay a fixed rental amount of 3.40 billion yuan for the lease.

The new carriers will help optimize and upgrade the company's business structure, COSCO Shipping said.

Meanwhile, in a separate announcement, the firm said it agreed to guarantee the borrowings of several of its subsidiaries.

Sunho Biologics Forms Board Committee to Investigate Upfront Payments to Service Providers

Sunho Biologics (HKG:2898) said it had formed a board committee to independently investigate a matter of upfront payments to certain service providers during the second half of 2025, according to a Tuesday filing with the Hong Kong bourse.Trading in the company's shares has been suspended since April 1, and will remain halted until further notice.The firm previously announced a delay in the publication of its 2025 annual results to give its auditor time to collect documentation and information relating to the service agreements.The matter stems from the upfront payment of $15.3 million to four service providers in exchange for advisory services during the second half of 2025.Given "current market uncertainties," the firm said it had "adjusted" its business development and capital market strategies and cancelled the service agreements for a full refund of the amounts paid.However, the firm said it was investigating the matter from a corporate governance perspective to identify internal control issues in connection with the payment.

Indian Government to Sell Up To 2% Stake in Coal India

The Indian government plans to divest up to 2% stake in Coal India (NSE:COALINDIA, BOM:533278) through an offer for sale between May 27 and May 29, the mining behemoth said in a filing to the Indian stock exchanges on Tuesday.The government has fixed the floor price at 412 Indian rupees per equity share, representing a discount of nearly 10% to Coal India's Tuesday closing price of 455.90 rupees on the National Stock Exchange of India.Through the OFS, the government plans to sell 61.6 million equity shares, amounting to 1% of Coal India's paid-up equity capital, as the base offer. It has also retained an oversubscription option to offload an additional 61.6 million shares, bringing the total offer size to 123.2 million shares, or 2% of the company's equity.The share sale will open for non-retail investors on May 27, and on May 29, it will be open to retail investors, eligible employees, and non-retail investors who wish to carry forward unallotted bids.The OFS will be conducted through a separate window mechanism on both the BSE and NSE in accordance with the Securities and Exchange Board of India guidelines.Coal India said 25,000 equity shares may also be reserved for eligible employees, subject to regulatory approval, with employees allowed to bid for shares worth up to 500,000 rupees.
