Magnum Ice Cream (MICC) brand Ben & Jerry's is set to appoint three new independent directors to its board as part of a restructuring, The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday, citing an employee note from Ben & Jerry's Chief Executive Jochanan Senf.
Ben & Jerry's selected Nora Benavidez, Michael McAfee and Eva Schulte to its board following a prolonged governance dispute involving Unilever and Magnum over Ben & Jerry's social activism and mission, according to the report.
The restructuring comes after term-limit changes, and the departure of several independent directors left Ben & Jerry's board with two members, the report added. The selection process was led by Ben & Jerry's working with an executive search firm, according to a company spokesperson.
Magnum Ice Cream did not immediately respond to' request for comment.
