CoreCivic (CXW) said Tuesday it has been awarded a five-year contract with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement to reopen its 1,600-bed Prairie Correctional Facility in Appleton, Minnesota, which has been idle since 2010.
The contract, whose financial terms were not disclosed, begins Aug. 11, and provides a fixed monthly payment and additional payments based on the number of detainees, the firm said.
CoreCivic said it expects to begin receiving detainees in Q4, with the full ramp expected in Q2 of 2027. It expects the facility to generate about $75 million in annual revenue when fully activated.
