A container ship trying to bypass the shipping route designated by Iranian authorities got stuck in shallow waters in the Strait of Hormuz, according to multiple media reports on Wednesday, citing Iranian media.
The extent of damage to the foreign vessel was not clear.
Iran's Revolutionary Guard's navy has repeatedly issued warnings that to cross the Hormuz Strait, vessels should use only approved entry and exit route that is through the corridor south of Iran's Larak island, Al Jazeera reported.
Transit through unapproved routes in the Persian Gulf could lead to irreparable incidents, according to the Iranian media report, which did not refer to the recent attack on two commercial ships by Iran for passing through the Strait without its permission, Al Jazeera reported.
