Contact Energy Posts Higher Retail Electricity, Gas Sales in June

Contact Energy (ASX:CEN, NZE:CEN) said retail mass-market electricity and gas sales increased year on year in June, alongside a rise in wholesale contracted electricity sales, according to Tuesday filings with the Australian and New Zealand bourses.

Mass market electricity and gas sales jumped to 495 gigawatt hours (GWh) in June from 410 GWh last year.

Wholesale electricity sales to customer businesses fell to 364 GWh in the month from 374 GWh in June 2025, while sales to commercial and industrial customers were up to 186 GWh from 120 GWh.

Wholesale contracted electricity sales rose to 1,056 GWh from 810 GWh, while spot electricity sales increased to 981 GWh from 818 GWh.

Total customer connections reached 700,000 in June, compared with 646,000 a year earlier.

Malaysia Pension Fund Pursuing Recovery of eFishery Investment After Fraud Case

Malaysia's state pension fund Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (KWAP) said it invested 163.4 million ringgit in Indonesian agritech startup eFishery for a 2.51% minority stake and is pursuing "all available avenues to maximize recovery of the investment."The statement followed a Bloomberg report that Malaysia's anti-graft agency had launched an investigation into losses linked to KWAP's investment in eFishery.KWAP said the losses stemmed from deliberate financial manipulation at eFishery. The fund noted that co-founder and former Chief Executive Officer Gibran Huzaifah was sentenced to nine years in prison in April for embezzlement and money laundering.The pension fund said it has completed an internal review of the investment and strengthened its private market investment process and portfolio monitoring after the irregularities were uncovered.
