Prices for commercial liquefied petroleum gas in India reportedly dropped for the first time this year, according to media outlets, following a series of monthly hikes driven by the surge in global energy prices due to Middle East supply disruptions.
Indian oil marketing companies reduced the price of 19-kilogram commercial LPG cylinders by 183.50 Indian rupees ($1.93) beginning July 1, national media agency NDTV said, with prices in Delhi decreasing to 2,930.00 rupees from 3,113.50 rupees.
The reduction is expected to benefit industrial customers, including restaurants and hotels.
Prices for 5-kg Free Trade LPG were also cut by 13 rupees, bringing Delhi price levels to 808.50 rupees, Times of India reported.
Meanwhile, prices for 14.2-kg domestic LPG for households remained unchanged.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas did not immediately respond to' request for comment.
