Colombia's state-controlled oil giant Ecopetrol has approved a sweeping board overhaul and appointed a new interim chief executive following decisions adopted by the Extraordinary Shareholders' Assembly on Sept. 15.
Luis Felipe Henao will continue to chair the nine-member board alongside Cesar Loza and Ricardo Rodriguez Yee, with the final selection of the board chair pending an upcoming meeting, the company noted.
The corporate transition coincides with a senior management shake-up.
Ecopetrol said that acting CEO Juan Carlos Hurtado stepped down by mutual agreement, prompting finance chief Camilo Barco to take over leadership on an interim basis.
As the nation's primary oil producer and operator of its core refining and pipeline infrastructure, market participants are closely monitoring these shifts and awaiting further updates from the company regarding permanent executive appointments.
