Coles Shares Inch Down After ACCC Begins Stage One Assessment for Proposed Acquisition of New South Wales Lease

Coles Group's (ASX:COL) shares fell marginally in early trading on Friday after the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) said in a statement on Thursday that it was assessing the impact on competition of its proposed acquisition of a lease over a new supermarket site to be constructed within a new mixed-use development in New South Wales.

The development is located at 5 Olympic Drive and 14-24 Childs Street in Lidcombe.

The regulator asked for submissions or information regarding the assessment by June 12.

South Korean Shares Open Lower Amid Uncertainty Around US-Iran Peace Deal

South Korean stocks opened lower on Friday as investors adopted a wait-and-see approach amid uncertainty over the U.S.-Iran peace agreement.The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index, or Kospi, fell 3.66%, or 316.21 points, to open at 8,323.2. The Kosdaq shed 14.51 points to open at 1,035.22.Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said earlier this week that "no tangible progress" had been made in the country's negotiations with the U.S. to end the war, according to CBS News.Araghchi said communication with the U.S. was ongoing but warned that any attack by Israel on Lebanon's capital, Beirut, under its campaign against Hezbollah would lead to fresh tensions in the U.S.-Iran conflict.

Fuji Media Confirms Evaluation of Outside Capital for Real Estate Unit, Says No Official Decision on Reported Bids

Fuji Media (TYO:4676) said it is evaluating the method, scale, timing, and other details for introducing outside capital into its Urban Development, Hotels & Resorts Segment, in response to media reports.The company said it has not officially unveiled any of the reported figures, after a Bloomberg News report claimed more than 15 bidders, including KKR, Blackstone, and Goldman Sachs, submitted offers last month, some exceeding 1 trillion yen.That reported amount far surpasses the 500 billion yen to 800 billion yen valuation originally estimated when the broadcaster first considered the deal earlier this year, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter.Fuji Media plans to reopen the first bidding round by mid-June to verify the feasibility of proposals, including funding certainty, the news wire said.
