Clover Biopharma's Respiratory Illness Vaccines Show Promise in Phase II Australian Trials

Clover Biopharmaceuticals (HKG:2197) has disclosed positive results from its phase 2 Australia trials evaluating two vaccine combinations to potentially treat respiratory illnesses in adults, according to a Hong Kong Exchange filing from Monday.

The company said the groups receiving the combinations SCB-1022 and SCB-1033 saw the rate of respiratory tract infection decline by 62% when compared to placebo. The combinations were generally well tolerated, with side effects including fatigue, headache, and pain at the injection site.

Clover also said it increased production of the vaccine candidates during the trial, which it believes will help with late-stage testing and commercialization. Based on the latest trial results, the company plans further testing and is seeking partners for a global collaboration.

The company's shares were up nearly 2% in afternoon trading on the HKEX.
