Chinese shares opened mixed on Thursday as China's industrial profit growth slowed.
The Shanghai Composite Index, the main gauge of Chinese stocks, opened 0.63 points lower at 3,911.89. The Shenzhen Component Index went up 0.3% to 13,876.80.
Industrial profits at China's large-scale firms reached 4.582 trillion yuan in the first seven months of 2026, up 18% from a year earlier. While the growth eased from the prior period's 19% increase, it exceeded the 16.0% forecast by Trading Economics.
In July alone, China's industrial profits rose 11% year over year.
