The Shanghai Composite Index, the main gauge of Chinese stocks, opened 1.06 points higher to 3,868.09. The Shenzhen Component Index rose 0.4% to 14,116.02.
Investors were encouraged by recent commitments to stabilize capital markets.
A slew of central state-owned enterprises have recently unveiled share repurchase plans or major shareholder stake increases, signaling strong confidence in their valuations and the broader market. China's securities regulator will soon hold symposiums with securities firms, fund managers and listed companies to gather input for future policymaking.
