China aims for non-fossil fuel power generation to account for about 50% of total power generation by 2030, according to a new power system development plan outlined by the National Development and Reform Commission and National Energy Administration.
The plan targets the basic completion of a new power system by 2030.
China aims to integrate over 2.8 billion kilowatts of new energy generation and construct a charging infrastructure network that can support over 110 million electric vehicles.
By 2030, hydropower capacity is expected to reach 410 gigawatts, nuclear power to 110 GW and non-fossil energy, such as biomass, solar and geothermal, to reach 65 GW.
The plan also calls for improving the flexibility of coal-fired generating units by reducing the minimum stable operating load of eligible units to about 25%.
