Chinese regulators introduced tightened rules on governing automaker payments to suppliers, with automobile companies encouraged to complete payments within 60 days, according to a Monday notice posted on state media Xinhua News.
Jointly issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the State Administration for Market Regulation, the framework mandates clearer payment start dates, stricter acceptance deadlines and faster cash settlements, while extending coverage to engineering and service providers.
Automakers are discouraged from forcing non-cash instruments such as commercial bills on suppliers.
