-- China is requiring Meta to unwind its $2 billion deal to acquire artificial intelligence startup Manus after a review, the National Development and Reform Commission said in a Monday disclosure.
The regulator said the decision was "in accordance with laws and regulations, and has required the parties involved to withdraw the acquisition transaction."
A spokesperson for Meta told CNBC that the deal fully complied with the law, according to a Monday report.
Manus, which relocated to Singapore after being established in China, develops AI agents, including one that can conduct complex tasks such as market research and coding, CNBC said.
