Chewy's (CHWY) market share gains and long-term opportunities from acquisitions are encouraging trends, but the forward catalyst path remains limited due to current category dynamics, RBC Capital Markets said in a research report emailed Thursday.
For Q3, the brokerage said it now expects net sales growth of 7% compared with 6.8% earlier. For 2026 and 2027, it expects sales growth of 7.7% and 7.3%, respectively, revised from 6.9% and 7.4% earlier.
The company's slightly higher revised fiscal 2026 guidance and Q3 EPS forecast of $0.39 eliminated the downside scenario baked into its earlier guidance, as H1 trends provided evidence that deterioration in the operating environment is unlikely, analysts wrote.
While Q3 gross margin rate could decline sequentially, the company expects modest year-over-year leverage during the quarter and in Q4, driven by sponsored ads and mix premiumization, according to RBC.
Management reaffirmed its artificial intelligence-related cost savings in the low-tens of millions in 2026, rising to around $50 million annualized in fiscal 2027, amid the deployment of its AI-powered chat assistant for customers and agent-enabled tools for team productivity, according to the note.
The brokerage reiterated its outperform rating on the stock and lowered its price target to $31 per share from $34.
