Changhua County Slaps NT$6 Million Fine on Taisun Enterprise for Contamination of Products; Shares Sink 4%

By

Taisun Enterprise Co (TPE:1218) has been fined NT$6 million by the Changhua County Health Bureau of Taiwan for contamination of products, according to a Friday filing to the Taiwan bourse.

The fine was levied after the company's contract manufacturer, Chung Lien Oils & Fats, found that the company's soybean salad oil products contained benzopyrene (BaP), which was over the regulatory limits. Subsequently, the Changhua County Government found Taisun guilty of delaying notification and other deficiencies and imposed a fine of NT$3 million.

An additional fine of NT3 million was also imposed after the Changhua County Government ruled that the company did not fully explain the discovery process and subsequent handling procedures, and therefore found the company guilty of

obstructing the enforcement of an investigation.

Taisun said it will implement the required improvements in accordance with the instructions of the competent authority.

The company's shares were down 4% in Monday's trade.
