CG Power JV Starts Commercial Production at Gujarat Semiconductor Facility; Shares Up 4%

CG Power and Industrial Solutions' (NSE:CGPOWER, BOM:500093) joint venture, CG Semi, has started commercial production at its G1 outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) facility in Sanand, Gujarat.

Inaugurated in August 2025, the G1 facility has a maximum production capacity of up to 300 million units annually, according to an Indian bourse filing on Saturday. The plant completed equipment installation, process stabilization, customer qualification and other readiness activities before commencing commercial operations.

CG Semi, a joint venture between CG Power, Renesas Electronics and Stars Microelectronics, is investing more than 76 billion rupees over five years to set up two OSAT facilities. While G1 is now operational, G2, remains under development and is expected to further expand production capacity.

Shares of CG Power rose nearly 4% in Monday's trade.

Contemporary Amperex Technology (SHE:300750, HKG:3750) will invest in New Zealand-based CarbonScape, a company that converts wood to graphite for use in lithium batteries, according to a Monday press release.The world's largest battery maker and Hong Kong-based investment firm Lochpine Capital will invest a combined 20% worth about $28 million to produce battery-grade graphite using forestry byproducts, according to an investor presentation.CATL and CarbonScape will test the technology at CATL's facilities in China.
