Some Central Asian state-owned infrastructure companies are planning to list in Hong Kong, Financial Secretary Paul Chan said, as the city seeks to deepen ties with the fast-growing region.
More than 100 companies from Belt and Road economies are already listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, with a combined market capitalization of more than HK$340 billion, Chan said in his weekly blog.
Hong Kong is also expanding its role as a financing hub for regional infrastructure and green investment through securitization, offshore yuan financing and sustainable finance initiatives.
Expanded yuan liquidity arrangements and cross-border settlement mechanisms are further helping businesses reduce transaction costs and facilitate trade, Chan said.
