Carlyle-backed (CG) newly-formed Canadian energy company Avenrock Energy on Monday said it will acquire Parallax Energy Operating from Carnelian Energy Capital.
Calgary-headquartered Parallax owns and operates a 75% working interest in exploration and production assets in Alberta's East Shale Duvernay, with about 300,000 gross acres and a production base focused on light oil and natural gas liquids, according to a press release.
It also has attractive future development opportunities, the statement said.
The acquisition is expected to help Avenrock establish a strong operating presence in Western Canada and develop a light oil business in the region.
Carlyle's Carlyle International Energy Partners platform will fund the transaction, which is conditional upon customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, the statement added.
