Brightstar Resources (ASX:BTR) said the mineral resource estimate (MRE) for its Sandstone gold project in Western Australia increased 18% to 69 million tonnes at 1.3 grams per tonne grade of gold for 2.9 million ounces, according to a Wednesday filing with the Australian bourse.
The project's measured and indicated classified MRE increased by 113% to 1.1 million ounces at 1.5 g/t gold, per the filing.
Brightstar said the company's total MRE now stands at 100 million tonnes at 1.4 g/t gold for 4.5 million ounces of gold, representing a ten-fold increase over 3.5 years.
The interim MRE upgrade is based on drilling completed before May. Four rigs are active at Sandstone, and a second MRE update is scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of this year, the company said.
