Botanix Pharmaceuticals (ASX:BOT) said the US Patent and Trademark Office issued a notice of allowance for a patent covering the drug substance for Sofdra, the company's treatment for primary axillary hyperhidrosis in patients who are at least nine years old, according to a Monday filing with the Australian bourse.
The patent relates to commercially relevant innovations associated with the sofpironium drug substance. Once issued, it will provide additional protections on top of other patents that cover Sofdra's commercial drug substance into May 2040, the company said.
Primary axillary hyperhidrosis is a medical condition characterized by uncontrollable and excessive underarm sweating.
