-- Boeing (BA) and the US Navy have "successfully" completed the first two-hour test flight of an unmanned MQ-25A Stingray, the former said Monday.
The aircraft was able to taxi, take off, fly, land and respond to commands from the Unmanned Carrier Aviation Mission Control System MD-5 Ground Control Station, Boeing said.
The aerial refueling drone is designed to increase the reach of naval fleets while allowing F/A-18 Super Hornets to focus on their primary role as a multi-role strike fighter, the company said.
The tested model is the first of four developmental units scheduled for military delivery under an initial $805 million contract, it said.
