Boeing (BA) has resolved several technical issues on the two jets that will serve as Air Force One, though the company remains nearly three years behind schedule, according to the US Government Accountability Office's annual weapons systems assessment released Thursday.
Boeing has completed the final configuration design and made progress on engineering work for the aircraft's environmental control system, cabin decompression issues, and hiring and retaining of more qualified mechanics, the report said.
The GAO said the program still faces other scheduling risks, including completing aircraft interiors, manufacturing wiring bundles and correcting defects tied to structural modifications.
Citing program documents, the report said Boeing is almost three years behind schedule in delivering the two aircraft. The company provided a revised schedule in September 2025, targeting delivery in mid-2028 and mid-2029, the report said.
