BNK Financial Group Subsidiary's Former Employee Sentenced to 35 Years in Embezzlement Case

South Korea's Supreme Court ruled on a 35-year prison sentence for a former employee of BNK Financial Group (KRX:138930) subsidiary Kyongnam Bank, who had been charged with embezzlement under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes.

The ruling came after the court dismissed the defendant Lee OO's appeal on May 22, which confirmed the Seoul High Court's decision on Lee's remand, issued on Jan. 22.

The former general manager was also ordered to pay an additional fine of 4.98 billion won, according to a Thursday filing with the Korea Exchange.

Shares of BNK Financial Group rose nearly 1% at market close.
