BHP Group Reports New Rio Doce Agreement Progress With Over 1 Billion Brazilian Reais in Fresh Reparations Funds Released

BHP Group (ASX:BHP) said its new Rio Doce Agreement reparations deal with Brazil has made progress, with new funds released since June, including 850 million Brazilian reais for environmental conservation, 243 million reais for healthcare, and 87.6 million reais for economic development in Mariana, according to a Wednesday statement.

An additional 32.4 million reais was transferred by the Rio Doce Fund for the management of federal conservation units, the company said.

As of April, 42.11 billion reais had been allocated under the new agreement, encompassing payments to federative entities and financial aid and compensation to affected individuals, it added.
