Bank of China (SHA:601988, HKG:3988) issued perpetual capital bonds amounting to 30 billion yuan, according to a Wednesday disclosure on the Hong Kong bourse.
The lender's Hong Kong shares rose 2% during Thursday's morning trade.
The coupon rate is 1.91% for the first five years and will be reset every five years.
The issuer is allowed to redeem the bonds every five years.
Proceeds from the issuance will be used to replenish the bank's additional tier 1 capital.
