Australia's Northern Territory Environmental Protection Authority is prosecuting Japan's Inpex-owned Ichthys LNG over its under-reporting of emissions, it said in a statement on Wednesday.
The NT EPA said that Ichthys LNG informed it of a "significant under-reporting of emissions" in October 2025 and that charges the authority was now bringing relate to under-reporting of benzene and toluene emissions over the 2019-2024 period.
It said it would not comment further on the matter while proceedings are active.
Under the NT EPA license granted to Ichthys LNG through an environmental protection license granted on 2017, Ichthys LNG is required to report emissions into the air, in tonnes, to the authority.
