Ausgold (ASX:AUC) said the Western Australian Environmental Protection Agency authorized the Katanning gold project's environmental review document for public release, according to a Friday Australian bourse filing.
The document describes the proposed project, its likely environmental impacts, and proposed management and mitigation measures. The authorization for public release triggers a 21-day public exposure period.
The Department of Mines, Petroleum, and Exploration informed the firm that it was granted three new mining leases, M70/1449, M70/1450, and M70/1451, comprising a total area of around 1,100 hectares.
The project's works approval application was submitted and is under assessment by the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation.
