Asahi Kasei Therapeutics has begun a phase two clinical study in Japan with Cresemba, an antifungal developed by Switzerland-based partner Basilea Pharmaceutica, according to a Tokyo bourse filing on Monday.
The company will test the antifungal, which has the active ingredient isavuconazole, for pediatric patients at risk of deep mycoses. Cresemba is currently not approved for use in pediatric patients in Japan.
Asahi Kasei Therapeutics is a subsidiary of Asahi Kasei (TYO:3407).
