Asahi Kasei (TYO:3407) posted a 173% year-over-year jump in attributable net income for the fiscal first quarter to 53.8 billion yen from 19.7 billion yen.
Net income per share was 39.73 yen, compared with 14.52 yen a year earlier, according to a Tokyo bourse filing on Friday.
Net sales rose 11.9% to 826.2 billion yen from 738.3 billion yen for the three months ended June 30.
For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2027, the chemical company expects attributable net income of 160 billion yen, net income per share of 119.65 yen, and net sales of 3.254 trillion yen.
The company plans to pay interim and year-end dividends of 22 yen per share each for the current year, which is higher than the year-ago period.
Shares of the company were down almost 4% in recent trade.
