APA Group (ASX:APA) said the Queensland Office of the Coordinator General assigned coordinated project status to its North to East Australia Pipeline, which proposes to link Beetaloo sub-basin gas in the Northern Territory to the company's East Coast gas grid, according to a Wednesday statement.
The status declaration will ensure "a streamlined whole-of-Queensland government approach to planning and environmental assessment for the project," the company said.
APA also submitted its referral of the project to the Northern Territory Environment Protection Authority for an environmental impact assessment, while a referral for a federal government environmental assessment will be delivered later this year.
The proposed North to East Australia Pipeline is in the early stages of development, and remains subject to extensive environmental and broader planning approvals. APA believes a final investment decision could be made from 2028, with construction potentially starting in late 2029.
