Anax Metals (ASX:ANX) is set to update the September 2023 heap leach scoping study for the Whim Creek project in Western Australia to a feasibility study by incorporating technical details from its column testwork program undertaken with CSIRO, together with the advancements in technology, according to a Thursday Australian bourse filing.
The testwork confirmed copper extraction of 77% to 80% and zinc extraction of over 90% from lower-grade ores. The study is expected to be completed in the March quarter of 2027.
Existing permitted heap leach infrastructure at Whim Creek provides a platform for future leaching operations, in parallel with the planned concentrator project.
Its shares rose 2% in recent trading on Thursday.
