AMTD Idea's (SGX:HKB) units, AMTD Digital and The Generation Essentials Group, signed definitive agreements to acquire an office tower in London for $17 million, according to a Tuesday filing with the Singapore Exchange.
The acquisition of the 9,646-square-meter building is expected to be completed without using external funding.
The building comprises a Grade A office and accommodation across several levels and will serve as the company's global headquarters once the acquisition is completed.

Cathay Financial (TPE:2882) unit Cathay Securities Investment Trust has appointed Liu Shan-Chi as vice chairman, effective Tuesday, according to a same-day Taiwan Exchange filing.Shares gained over 2% in Wednesday's late morning trade.Liu currently serves as senior executive vice president of Cathay Financial, and is also a director of Cathay Life Insurance, and Cathay Securities Investment Trust.
