Amazon (AMZN) and Skyborn Renewables have finalized a 600-megawatt power purchase agreement for the 976.5-MW Gennaker offshore windfarm in Germany, according to a joint statement on Friday.
"Amazon's long-term commitment to buy Gennaker's power gives Skyborn the financial certainty to move forward with construction," the statement said.
Gennaker will be composed of 63 15-MW turbines, with construction to begin in summer 2026 after financial close. The facility is expected to come online in the end of 2028, Skyborn said, helping Germany reach its target of 30 gigawatts of installed offshore wind capacity by 2030.
Following the agreement, Amazon's carbon-free energy portfolio in Germany now includes 12 projects, exceeding 1.3 GW in capacity.
The project also adds a 3-billion-euro ($3.44 billion) investment in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, according to the statement.
