Alcoa (ASX:AAI) received $174 million in equity financing from the US Department of War for the construction of a new gallium production facility at its Wagerup alumina refinery in Western Australia, according to a Tuesday statement from the agency.
Alcoa will operate the facility, which is projected to produce 100 metric tons of gallium metal annually.

Samsung Heavy Industries (KRX:010140) secured a 444.5 billion won contract to build two container ships for an unnamed African buyer, according to a filing with the Korean bourse on Monday.The contract is valid from Aug. 28, 2026, to Dec. 27, 2028.
