Global aviation giant Airbus is positioning Thailand as a regional hub for its digital aviation business, with Bangkok set to serve as the headquarters for Airbus's digital arm, Skywise, across Asia, according to a Monday statement by the country's Board of Investment.
Airbus has established a regional Flight Operations Center of Excellence under Skywise, which will support the development of digital and modern aviation technology across Asia, BOI said after its officials met with Airbus executives.
Airbus is currently expanding its Skywise software testing team in Thailand to ensure quality control before delivery to clients and airlines. Thailand will serve as the sole testing base for software used by customers worldwide, the BOI said.
The two parties also discussed building on Thailand's automotive parts sector to enter the aircraft components supply chain, training personnel for maintenance, repair and overhaul work, and developing Thailand as a production base for sustainable aviation fuel.
