Air Water's (TYO:4088) board of directors appointed Mikihiko Kato as chairperson, according to a Tokyo bourse filing on Thursday.
Kato is currently an independent outside director.
The appointment is part of the industrial gas company's transition into having an audit and supervisory committee after facing accounting issues.
The appointment of an independent outside director as chairman should ensure the separation between execution and oversight, the company said.
