Air China (HKG:0753, SHA:601111) expects an attributable net loss of 2.1 billion yuan to 2.6 billion yuan for the six months ended June 30, widening from a net loss of 1.81 billion yuan a year earlier, according to a Tuesday Hong Kong bourse filing.
The airline attributed the expected loss to elevated jet fuel prices driven by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which squeezed airline profit margins despite higher capacity deployment, revenue growth and a profitable first quarter.
