Meanwhile, the volume of production index rose 7.8% in March, accelerating from a 3.1% increase in the month prior and reversing the 0.6% decline a year earlier.
The country's production index measures real output in the manufacturing sector.
The value of the net sales index for manufacturing grew 4.3% year on year in March, faster than the 1.9% annual growth in the preceding month.
The volume of net sales index edged up 1.8% year on year in March, versus a 0.5% annual rise in the month prior, the data showed.
