-- Meta Platforms (META) is facing a class action lawsuit from a group of publishers on allegations that the company illegally used copyrighted content to train its artificial intelligence platform Llama, multiple news outlets reported Tuesday.
The lawsuit was filed in Manhattan federal court by publishers Elsevier, Cengage Learning, Hachette, Macmillan, and McGraw Hill, as well as author Scott Turow, according to Reuters.
The parties claim that Meta got access to books and journal articles from pirating websites and used these to train its large language models, according to reports.
Meta did not immediately respond to' request for comment.
