-- Japanese glass manufacturer AGC (TYO:5201) halted the construction of a green hydrogen component facility in Kitakyushu due to a global slowdown in carbon reduction efforts and hydrogen project delays, Nikkei Asia reported Monday.
The chemical facility was intended to produce ion exchange membranes and was scheduled to begin operations this year. The company had planned to expand the plant and generate sales of 30 billion yen by fiscal 2030, the report said.
AGC said it will take into consideration future demand conditions for hydrogen before resuming construction.
