US Treasury March Budget Deficit Larger Than Expected, Wider Than Year Ago

-- The US Treasury posted a $164.1 billion budget deficit in March compared with the $153.3 billion deficit expected in a survey compiled by Bloomberg and wider than the $160.53 billion budget deficit a year earlier.

The monthly deficit was $307.5 billion in February.

Through the first six months of the fiscal year, the deficit is $1.169 trillion, smaller than a $1.307 trillion gap in the same period a year earlier.
