-- US energy production reached 9.1 quadrillion British thermal units in January, rising 3% over the year, the US Energy Information Administration said in a Monthly Energy Review on Monday
Dry natural gas led fossil fuel output with a 46% share, followed by crude oil at 31%, coal at 12%, and natural gas plant liquids at 11%, the agency said.
Renewable energy output showed biomass contributing 56%, wind 20%, hydroelectric power 12%, solar 11%, and geothermal energy 1%, EIA added.
Natural gas plant liquids production jumped 7% over the year, while dry natural gas and renewable output each increased 4%, according to the EIA.
Nuclear power and coal production each rose 2%, while crude oil output edged up 1% over the year, indicating moderate growth in traditional energy segments, the agency said.
