-- Cisco Systems (CSCO) said Thursday that it has developed a Universal Quantum Switch prototype that can route and translate quantum information between different systems, advancing efforts toward a scalable quantum network.
The company said the device can connect quantum systems across multiple encoding types while preserving quantum information, using a patented conversion engine that translates signals during routing without loss.
Cisco said the prototype enables interoperability between quantum systems from different vendors and supports future distributed quantum computing networks.
