-- FPX Nickel (FPX.V) was edging up Tuesday after saying environmental permitting progressed for the Baptiste nickel project in British Columbia.
As part of the environmental assessment process, the BC Environmental Assessment Office and the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada issued a joint summary of issues and engagement following their coordinated review of an initial project description for the project.
FPX said the joint summary is a customary procedural step in the environmental assessment process that summarizes the engagement and comments received by the agencies, identifies Indigenous Nations that are included in the process, and provides clarity for next steps.
"It is clear from the comments received that there is a strong desire to see new responsible economic development and good, family-supporting jobs come to this region of the province," President and Chief Executive Officer Martin Turenne said.
In the next stage of process, FPX said it will incorporate the outcomes of the joint summary into a detailed project description concluding the early engagement and planning phases.
The company plans to submit a detailed project description in mid-2027.
