Singapore Airlines' Passenger Traffic Rises 14.7% in March

Singapore Airlines (SGX:C6L) said its group passenger traffic was up 14.7% year on year in March, according to a Wednesday filing on the Singapore Exchange.

The airline's passenger capacity increased 7.2%, while the group's passenger load factor came in at 90.6%, with the flagship carrier Singapore Airlines logging a passenger load factor of 90.3% and low-cost unit Scoot reporting 91.7%.

Combined passenger carriage increased 14.9% year on year to 3.8 million passengers, the filing said.

Cargo loads increased 2.4% year over year against capacity decrease of 1.3%, amid disruptions due to conflict in the Middle East. Meanwhile, the cargo load factor increased by 2.1 percentage points to 59%.

By the end of February, the group's passenger network covered 134 destinations in 35 countries. Meanwhile, its cargo network spanned 137 destinations across 36 countries and territories.

Scoot also launched passenger services to Tokyo in March, according to the filing.

Shanghai International Airport Logs Higher March Passenger Throughput

Shanghai International Airport (SHA:600009) reported higher passenger throughput at its two airports in March, according to a Wednesday filing with the Shanghai bourse.At the Pudong International Airport, passenger throughput rose 11% year over year to 7.4 million, while its cargo and mail throughput climbed 8.1% to 372,100 tons, and aircraft movements increased 4.7% to 47,395 flights.The Hongqiao International Airport saw a 6.1% year-on-year rise in passenger throughput to 4.4 million, while cargo and mail throughput inched up 0.3% to 35,700 tons, and aircraft movements increased 2.4% to 24,683 flights.
