Eni Cuts Upstream Emissions 31% in 2025 as Transition Strategy Advances

By

-- Italian energy company Eni cut upstream greenhouse gas emissions sharply in 2025, reporting a 31% year-on-year reduction and a 68% drop from 2018 levels, it said Wednesday.

The company disclosed the figures in its annual sustainability report, Eni for 2025 - A Just Transition, which outlines progress on emissions reduction, renewable energy growth, and social impact initiatives tied to its long-term transition strategy.

Now in its twentieth edition, the report details performance across five pillars: carbon neutrality, environmental protection, workforce development, partnerships, and value chain sustainability. It is designed to give investors and stakeholders a clearer picture of how Eni is balancing its legacy oil and gas operations with lower-carbon businesses.

It said Eni's renewables arm, Plenitude, expanded installed capacity to 5.8 gigawatts, up 41% from a year earlier, and brought a 200-megawatt battery storage facility in Texas online. Enilive, its sustainable mobility unit, added three new biorefineries and is targeting 5 million tonnes of capacity by 2030.

The company also formed a carbon capture and storage venture with Global Infrastructure Partners to scale its CCS portfolio and attract external investment.

Eni invested more than 460 million euros ($540.5 million) in research and development during the year, focusing on technologies such as fusion energy, advanced computing, biofuels, and carbon capture. It also spent 81 million euros on community programs, reaching about 3 million people through projects in energy access, healthcare, education, and economic development.

Chief Executive Claudio Descalzi said the company's model integrates traditional operations with new energy investments while maintaining a focus on safety, environmental protection, and community development. He said this approach has helped Eni manage market volatility while advancing its transition goals.

The company said the report will serve as a reference point for ongoing stakeholder engagement as it continues to refine its energy transition strategy.

Research Alert: American Homes 4 Rent Reports Mixed Results In Q1 2026

CFRA, an independent research provider, has providedwith the following research alert. Analysts at CFRA have summarized their opinion as follows:AMH delivered Q4 2025 FFO of $0.47 per share, in line with consensus, while revenue of $455M missed estimates despite 4.2% growth driven by higher rental rates. Average occupancy declined 30 bps to 95.0% and blended lease rates of +2.8% decelerated from 3.6% in Q3, signaling weakening pricing power in a challenging rental market. Management significantly lowered 2026 core NOI growth guidance to just 1.0%-3.0%, down from beginning 2025 expectations, citing economic uncertainties. The trust maintains a strong balance sheet with $5.2B total debt, no maturities until 2028, and 8.5-year average maturity. AMH plans $500M-$600M in property acquisitions and $150M-$250M in development for 2026, while executing $115M in share repurchases. We view the disappointing guidance and slowing lease growth as signs of mounting operational headwinds, though the unencumbered balance sheet and disciplined capital allocation provide some stability in the near term.
