-- Samsung Electronics (KRX:005930) launched the EHS Heat Pump Boiler in South Korea on Monday, which is in accordance with the government's heating electrification promotion project, according to a same-day press release.
The pump boiler uses natural air heat and electricity to provide indoor heating and hot water, and can generate over four times the amount of heat against the input electrical energy, Samsung said.
The South Korean government unveiled a plan earlier in April to deploy 3.5 million heat pumps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 5.18 million tons by 2035.
It will invest 14.4 billion won in 2026 and hasten the move from fossil fuel boilers by providing subsidies covering up to 70% of installation costs per household, according to the release.
