Meta Platforms Faces EU Order to Restore Third-Party AI Assistants' Access to WhatsApp

-- Meta Platforms (META) faces a potential EU order to reinstate third-party AI assistants' access to WhatsApp under the same conditions that applied before its October policy change, the European Commission said Tuesday.

The move comes as part of interim measures in the EU's probe into whether Meta abused its dominant position by restricting rival AI assistants on WhatsApp.

The interim measures, if imposed, would remain in place until the commission completes its investigation and issues a final decision, according to the statement.

Meta did not immediately respond to a request for a comment from.
